We've listed the most often asked questions below. If you don't find your question here, stop by and the friendly Genesis Computer Service staff will be happy to assist.

Answers to some of the most common Genesis Computer Service policy questions:

What is my warranty?
You can get a more detailed explanation by going to our Warranty FAQs; but in general, you get the industry's best: a one year parts and three year labor guarantee on every assembled system you purchase.

Do you price match?
In short, we try to give you the best deal possible. We believe we already have the lowest retail prices on the products we sell, however we rely on our valued customers to alert us when we've missed the mark. On exact items you find in the local area, bring us a competitive quote; please understand that we'll need to verify the terms of the offer to ensure that you receive the full value. On similar items, again, bring us a quote and we'll offer a competitive value. We don't compete with sale items, "loss leaders" or circumstantial sales (such as discontinued items, return mark downs, and clearance prices).

Why don't you price match mail order places?
Overhead. Mail order houses do not have to pay the upkeep of a store front. Retail establishements, not just Genesis Computer Service, must maintain both a warehouse and store front. That nearly doubles the cost. More importantly, you and Genesis Computer Service have often developed a quality customer relationship, so should you ever have a problem you know you can get friendly assistance and quicker turn arounds on defective or incompatible purchases; Genesis Computer Service won't be a faceless telephone call and weeks of frustration while you wait for support and shipping.

What is your Special Order policy?
The Genesis Computer Service purchasing agent can special order just about anything you want; however, you must put down a 25% deposit. Our return policy still applies with one exception, you may cancel or return the special order, but the 25% special order fee is non-refundable.

What is your mark-up?
That is a closely guarded formula, but we assure you that it pays the bills and guarantees that we'll be here for you, tomorrow. Like any business, we're interested in making a profit but we believe we can do it with volume sales than in marked-up prices. Here at Genesis Computer Service we believe that if your first experience is good, you'll come back for all your computing needs and tell your friends. This method allows us to "nickel and dime" our way to profits rather than gouge the customer for a fast C-Note. While our competitors have come and gone, Genesis Computer Service has been serving you since 1978.

You have very good prices on software, why won't you sell it to me? What does OEM mean?
A very good combination question. First, we simply can't compete with retail packaged software resellers. Second, we still have to provide customers an operating system (Windows95/98/2000) in order for their systems to function. OEM is an acronym for Original Equipment Manufacturer; which means we assemble systems or provide qualifying parts. What this all means is that the suppliers, like Microsoft, Cyberlink and Adaptec, will provide us with software that we can only sell under strict guidelines. Namely, we can only sell this software if it is included with a complete system or some combination of parts that they define as a minimal configuration. If you'd like to see what the specific guidelines are, stop by Genesis Computer Service and ask to see the software resellers guide.

Why won't Genesis Computer Service just load Windows or other software onto my system?
During most software installations, you must input a unique activiation code that is licensed to you. Without your disks and Certificate of Authenticity (or similar document), Genesis Computer Service cannot load any software onto your system.

Have you ever had customer complaints?
Yes. While Genesis Computer Service representatives strive for 100% customer satisfaction, we know that it's not possible. Realistically we know that there will always be one or two folks that aren't going to be satisfied, no matter what you do for them; but we still greet them with a smile and welcome handshake. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority; that sounds a bit cliche', but without repeat customers and positive word of mouth advertising, we'd be just like our competitiors - headed out of business.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, MasterCard and VISA. Unlike our competitors, we don't add the surcharge for credit card use, we consider the surcharge as a part of our yearly advertising budget. For those who have ever wondered, credit card companies charge resellers a percentage of every sale in which the customer used a credit card (hence why they pass that on to you). That money is then used to guarantee payment and pays for international credit card marketing. We invest about one-half of one-percent of every sale in our advertising budget, that's a lot less than the 5% you are often charged by our competitors, who also have advertising costs; so you're really paying double or triple?

Do you have a payment plan?
We've looked into outside financing, but it costs too much. You'd spend nearly twice the value of the system. We currently do not do in-house financing because we can't absorb those losses, nor can you - in higher prices.

Do you have any customer discounts?
We have an array of discounts. Each month we feature at least one product or product line whose price may be slashed by as much as 50%. We give government IMPAC purchasers a discount. We have a "bare bones" discount of 10%. And finally, we often give discounts to multiple system purchases.
