Answers to some common questions about your TexSys Computers warranty:
Do I need my invoice when requesting service?
You can avoid delays and help improve customer service by keeping your invoice in a safe place and having it available when calling or stopping by.
Why is there a verification process?
To provide the best parts at the most competitive prices, TexSys Computers will have to verify when items were sold, to whom and verify its condition. Our suppliers have similar requirements and will not allow us to return defective merchandise that was not purchased from them or past our warranty date. If we return non-manufacturer-defective parts, they return them and we incur addtional shipping charges. Without this verification process, our costs increase, which we then have to pass on to you, our valued customer.
What is the verification process?
When you return an item, and the item cannot be immediately checked out, you will be given a merchandise receipt. When a technician can verify the conditions of sale and fitness, you will be be given the proper credit for the return. If for some reason the item is defective due to conditions other than manufacturer defect, the item will be returned to you without charge or credit.
Why is there a fee for non-defective returns?
This fee helps to offset the total costs involved in processing a return. Realize this is only applied to non-defective returns and is a standard industry charge. (And at 10%, is the lowest that we know of). Additionally, our competitors will not accept returns on electrial and electronic components - TexSys Computers does!
$45.00 seems steep for a returned check or charge, my bank only charges me $15.00?
While this rarely used charge barely covers our costs, it avoids having to pass the debt collection services on to our customers. At TexSys Computers, our goal is to have the most competitive prices and this fee helps ensure we meet that goal.
What happened to my data?
Our service technicians take every precaution to preserve your system's data integrity. Sometimes loss is unavoidable. If during the course of servicing your system it becomes apparent that data loss is possible or inevitable, we will contact you first. The most common cause is during an upgrade of hardware or software; especially if an older hard drive is involved that has been patched to work with an older BIOS that doesn't support large format hard drives. TexSys Computers can back-up and restore your system if needed, but you will be billed at an hourly rate of $45.00 and the process is both time consuming and can cause significant delays in returning your system to you. Ultimately, however, you agree that TexSys Computers cannot be held liable for any loss of data.
What is a 'Carry-In' warranty?
Our goal is to provide you the best possible service. Most of TexSys Computers's systems never need servicing and so we do not include the needless costs of providing you on-site service. This means, that if necessary, you will have to bring your system into TexSys Computers for servicing. On-site warranties are available, though. If you need an on-site warranty, see a customer representative for details.
I installed Norton Utilities and it messed up my system, and you charged me for the repair?
Your TexSys Computers warranty covers the system as configured when you made your original system investment. When you add hardware or software to your system, you are changing that configuration. Those changes sometimes lead to system incompatibilities and failure. TexSys Computers cannot warranty conditions beyond our immediate control. TexSys Computers technicians will work with you to resolve these problems, often without charge, but charges will apply in the severest cases. Your TexSys Computers warranty will always return your system to the condition in which it was sold!
What do I have to bring to get service?
Unlike many competitors, TexSys Computers provides all of the manuals and software that comes with your new system. When you bought your system, the customer representative reviewed all of these elements with you - along with your sales invoice and 'white box', this is what you will need to bring with you for any required service. If you did not buy your system from TexSys Computers, you will need to bring any manuals and system related software in order for technicians to work on your system. Without the manuals and software, technicians will not be able to restore either system to its orignal condition. You do not need to bring any power cords, keyboards, mice, monitors or other peripherals, unless they are special or possibly part of your service concern. It's best to call first if in doubt.
